Crochet Ripple Stitch Baby Blanket

With the arrival of our rainbow baby only 6 short days away, I thought now would be the perfect time to share my Crochet Ripple Stitch Baby Blanket pattern with you.

I’ve been busy spending my final pregnant days loving on my 4-year-old and crocheting as many last minute projects as possible.  The blanket in this pattern is for a couple of friends of ours that are expecting a sweet baby girl in a few short months.

The ripple stitch pattern is worked in multiples of 14+4, so you can easily make this blanket as big or as little as you’d like.  You can use one solid color or as many colors as your heart desires.

Let’s get to it!

– 5.5 mm crochet hook
Red Heart Super Saver in White
Red Heart Super Saver in Baby Pink
Red Heart Super Saver in Minty
– Darning needle
– Scissors

Finished (unblocked) Measurements: 36” x 34”

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:
ch = Chain
dc = Double Crochet
dc3tog = Double Crochet 3 Together
st = Stitch
() = # of stitches in row

Notes:  Ch 3 at the beginning of each row counts as a stitch.  The ripple stitch is worked in multiples of 14+4. If you’d like to make a larger blanket adjust your starting chain accordingly.  This blanket can be made in a single color or as many colors as you want.

Luck of the Irish Crochet Headband Tutorial

Writing crochet patterns is something I have wanted to do since I began crocheting in 2013. It wasn’t until recently that I actually sat myself down and gave it a try. With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, I figured now would be a great time to share my first written pattern with you 🙂

This pattern is great for both beginner and novice crocheters and can be worked up in about 15 minutes.

Let’s get started!

• Size H/5.00mm crochet hook
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• Approximately 30-40 yards of worsted weight yarn in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. You will need double the green yarn to create your clover. The colors and brands I used are:

  • Crafter’s Secret in 49 Orange
  • I Love This Yarn! in Yellow
  • Red Heart Super Saver in Glowworm
  • Red Heart Super Saver in Pool

ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
trc – treble crochet

Additional Notes:

Walmart ProCare Cool Mist Humidifier – Review

If you have little ones that are prone to getting sick (my 3-year-old included), then Walmart’s ProCare Cool Mist Humidifier is for you. As a mom of a 3-year-old, I am always looking for ways to prevent my daughter from getting sick (which is often) and to help alleviate her symptoms when she is sick.

The ProCare Cool Mist Humidifier helps provide soothing, invisible moisture to temporarily relieve cough and congestions. I owned one other cool mist humidifier prior to receiving the ProCare Cool Mist Humidifier from Influenster. This humidifier outperforms the other cool mist humidifier on so many levels.

Features include: 1 gallon tank, ability to run for 24-hours at a time, 2 output settings (low and high), wicking filter (to capture minerals and impurities from the water).

I was ecstatic when I received the humidifier in the mail. I opened it up right away and set it up in my bedroom. I didn’t immediately notice a difference, which I expected, but my husband woke up sicker than a dog. He blames the humidifier, but I have a feeling he was already coming down with something prior to us using the humidifier (although he had no previous symptoms).

We no longer use the humidifier at night due to how sick my husband got, but I run it during naptime for my daughter. I also like to bring it into my office when I’m working bright and early in the morning. So far, so good. My daughter and I have not been sick all winter! That could be because we’ve been using the humidifier or because we’ve been extremely lucky – I’ll never know for sure.

I haven’t personally noticed any negative aspects of this product, aside from my husband getting sick – again, that’s probably not the humidifier’s fault. I have read many comments from other reviewers who stated the tank leaks. I have not had this problem, but that is something to consider when purchasing this product.

Pros: I love that this humidifier can run for 24-hours straight, holds a significant amount of water, and is very quiet – even on high.

Is this a product my family and I will use all the time? Probably not. Does it help when you’re sick? I don’t know for sure because I haven’t been sick since receiving this product. *knock on wood*

Until next time, friends!

I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Purex Crystals – Review.

I hope everyone is staying warm on this beautiful Saturday morning. Thursday night into Friday morning we received a good 3″ of snow – our first snow of 2017. My 3.5-year-old is a little snow bunny, so you can guess how we’ve been spending our time 😉

Now that I have a nice, big cup of coffee in hand, I am ready to share with you the new Purex Crystals that I received from BzzAgent to test and review. Purex Crystals are an in-wash fragrance booster that enhance your laundry’s scent. Prior to starting a load of laundry, add as much or as little of the Purex Crystals to your washing machine as you see fit – it all depends on your personal fragrance preference!

Vasanti Product Reviews.

Hi, everyone! Earlier this week I introduced you to the new products I received from Swaggable. The products I would like to talk about today are the products I received from Vasanti. Prior to receiving these products in the mail, I had never heard of Vasanti. After a little bit of research I found out that Vasanti was founded by a sisterhood of women (three sisters and one childhood friend). This sisterhood of women created their beauty products around one simple question: “Why doesn’t make-up look good on me?” You can read more about the sisterhood behind these lovely products here. While conducting my research, I came across one huge plus – Vasanti products are not tested on animals. You can purchase these products via,,,, and at selected high end Shoppers Drug Mart locations across Canada.

2016 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.

On April 19, 1995, lives were drastically changed forever. Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols carried out a horrific attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. I can remember watching the news coverage with my family. I was 6-years-old and living in my hometown of Apple Valley, CA. I was young and confused. Years passed and I never put a lot of thought into the incident again.

In 2009 my husband and I received news that we were getting stationed at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. Each year I watched the marathon from the comfort of our home. In 2015, we finally decided to participate. My husband completed the 5k and I ran the 1.2 mile Kids Marathon with our daughter who was 2-years-old at the time (She ran the entire 1.2 miles!). We had such a great experience in 2015, we decided we would continue to participate each year that we live in Oklahoma City. This year my husband completed the full marathon (26.2 miles) and my daughter and I once again completed the 1.2 mile Kids Marathon.

On Saturday (the day before race day), we visited the Memorial Museum for the first time. Anyone who participates in the marathon receives free tickets to visit the museum. We had been to the outdoor portion of the museum many times, but this was our first time inside. I wasn’t sure what to expect upon entering. The first portion of the museum was interesting, but nothing compared to the second portion of the museum. We entered a room where we listened to a hearing being conducted at the Oklahoma Water Resources building next door — during the hearing, you hear the bombing occur. It was horrific and heart wrenching. I cannot even begin to fathom what it was like to physically be in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995.

After the recording, we entered another portion of the museum where we were able to see personal belongings collected from those who lost their lives and from those who survived. I don’t believe there is a single word that can explain how terrible this act of terrorism was. Walking around the remainder of the museum was very difficult for me. I felt sick to my stomach.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Cake!

Sunday was my husband’s birthday. Last year I made him a homemade ice cream cake. While I enjoyed making it, the cake ended up being more work than I had originally planned (more expensive too). This year I had planned on making another ice cream cake, but with brownies rather than cake. When Vance saw what I was planning, he requested a chocolate chip cookie ice cream cake instead. So . . . I gave him what he wanted.

This ended up being the easiest cake I have ever made!
