Walmart ProCare Cool Mist Humidifier – Review

If you have little ones that are prone to getting sick (my 3-year-old included), then Walmart’s ProCare Cool Mist Humidifier is for you. As a mom of a 3-year-old, I am always looking for ways to prevent my daughter from getting sick (which is often) and to help alleviate her symptoms when she is sick.

The ProCare Cool Mist Humidifier helps provide soothing, invisible moisture to temporarily relieve cough and congestions. I owned one other cool mist humidifier prior to receiving the ProCare Cool Mist Humidifier from Influenster. This humidifier outperforms the other cool mist humidifier on so many levels.

Features include: 1 gallon tank, ability to run for 24-hours at a time, 2 output settings (low and high), wicking filter (to capture minerals and impurities from the water).

I was ecstatic when I received the humidifier in the mail. I opened it up right away and set it up in my bedroom. I didn’t immediately notice a difference, which I expected, but my husband woke up sicker than a dog. He blames the humidifier, but I have a feeling he was already coming down with something prior to us using the humidifier (although he had no previous symptoms).

We no longer use the humidifier at night due to how sick my husband got, but I run it during naptime for my daughter. I also like to bring it into my office when I’m working bright and early in the morning. So far, so good. My daughter and I have not been sick all winter! That could be because we’ve been using the humidifier or because we’ve been extremely lucky – I’ll never know for sure.

I haven’t personally noticed any negative aspects of this product, aside from my husband getting sick – again, that’s probably not the humidifier’s fault. I have read many comments from other reviewers who stated the tank leaks. I have not had this problem, but that is something to consider when purchasing this product.

Pros: I love that this humidifier can run for 24-hours straight, holds a significant amount of water, and is very quiet – even on high.

Is this a product my family and I will use all the time? Probably not. Does it help when you’re sick? I don’t know for sure because I haven’t been sick since receiving this product. *knock on wood*

Until next time, friends!

#SpiceVoxBox from Influenster!

Hey, everyone 🙂

It’s been way too long! I’m so behind on blogging, but I’m hoping to change that very soon. Between working full-time (my hubs too), running 2 businesses, chasing after my almost 3 year old daughter, and taking care of our 3 pups, I barely have time to breathe. Big changes are in our near future though 🙂 and I am optimistic I will have this blog up and running like I used to.

Recently, I received 2 VoxBox’s from Influenster. The first was the #PumpkinVoxBox and the second is the #SpiceVoxBox. I won’t even bother reviewing the #PumpkinVoxBox — no offense to Influenster, it just happens to be my least favorite VoxBox.

As you can tell, I am very excited about this VoxBox. It has some amazing products and I don’t have a single bad thing to say about any of them.

Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation.

Three weeks ago I finally received another VoxBox from Influenster. I swear it was meant to be because I was getting ready to go out and find myself a new foundation. Over the years I have tried many different brands from expensive department store foundations, to drugstore foundations. I have to admit, while I was excited about this VoxBox, I was also extremely terrified. I’ve had such bad luck in the past, I was really worried this was going to be just another foundation I was going to trash.

IMG_3438

Here’s a peak at what was inside the Maybelline VoxBox when I received it. Prior to receiving the VoxBox, I was not able to pick the shade of the foundation — which is probably a good thing because the shade I received is a perfect! That never happens to me — especially with drugstore products.

IMG_3437

The shade I received is Classic Ivory. I’ve never purchased a foundation this light, so this was one of the reasons I was so worried. It turned out, this shade was perfect for my skin tone. I can play it up with a little bronzer, or wear it as is with my favorite blush. Either way, it was a win win.

Here’s a little product description straight from Influenster: “Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation for an all-day flawless coverage now and better-looking skin in 3 weeks. The foundation reduces the the appearance of spots, dullness, and unevenness and gives you a brighter, more even, and stress-free skin. With the antioxidant power of Actyl-C, a more durable form of vitamin C. Available in 12 shades.

So, the purpose of this VoxBox was to wear the foundation every day for 3 weeks as a part of the #betterskinchallenge. It’s been just over 3 weeks and I feel like I can safely write a review on this product.

IMG_3436

Here is a before and after from week 1 (top) and week 3 (bottom). As you can see, there isn’t a significant difference in spots, dullness, and unevenness. I really don’t feel that this product lived up to its claims in this aspect, BUT . . . there are some other positive notes that actually made this product a new favorite foundation of mine.

I have never tried a foundation that made my skin look damn near flawless. Never. I know you can still see my dark circles in these photos, but this foundation is a significant improvement over the foundations I’ve used in the past. My typical routine for applying face makeup is foundation, concealer, translucent powder, and blush or bronzer. I didn’t feel it was necessary to use concealer with this foundation because it is fairly buildable. The foundation applies thin and smooth so when you build it up, your makeup isn’t cakey and thick. (I did this with a beauty blender and a stippling brush. Each technique worked as well as the other.)

I have combination skin (oily t-zone) and always worry about how a foundation is going to pair with my skin type. Guess what? Once I applied the foundation, my skin looked matte for most of the day 🙂 This foundation doesn’t have 24/7 stay power, but it does last quite a long time without having to touch it up. I’ve received many compliments on my makeup since I started wearing this.

One thing that really annoyed me about this foundation is the foundation pump. It’s awful! If you angle the foundation while you’re pressing the pump, the foundation will cease to flow and you will have to place the foundation on a flat surface and press the pump repeatedly to get the foundation to flow once again.

All in all, I think this is a great foundation. If you can get past the crummy pump, I think you’ll love it as much as I do. The foundation applied thin and smooth while making my skin as flawless as it has ever looked. It’s very easy to build up so you’re able to omit using concealer altogether (if you use concealer). It hasn’t lessened the appearance of spots, but it does provide amazing coverage. Plus, it’s inexpensive. You really can’t go wrong!

Have you tried the new Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation? I’d love to hear your opinions!

Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover — #FrostyVoxBox

After being extremely sick for the past 2 weeks (flu and strep + a toddler with a double ear infection), I’m finally feeling well enough to return to writing posts. I have a lot of catching up to do!

One of my favorite products that was included in the Frosty VoxBox is the new Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover.

Rimmel1

I’m going to be honest. I’ve only tried a handful of makeup removers in my life. I usually use baby wipes because I feel like they remove makeup easier. The only down side to baby wipes is the icky smell that is left on your face after removing your makeup. My face always feels greasy after too.

This is the first makeup remover that I’ve used and actually loved. The name implies that its sole purpose is for removing eye makeup, but I have to disagree. I’ve been using it to remove all of my makeup and it works fantastic!

NYC Expert Last Lip Color Review — #FrostyVoxBox

If you’re looking for a new beauty product to try in 2015, I highly recommend the NEW NYC Expert Last Lip Color. I received a complimentary lip color in Sugar Plum from Influenster for testing purposes and I’m so in-love with it!

Most of the lip colors I’ve tried in the past have been very drying on my lips. I’ll use the lip color once or twice and then it’s left sitting in one of my many drawers of makeup. That was NOT the case with NYC Expert Last Lip Color. I received my VoxBox right before Christmas and I think that Sugar Plum was the perfect shade to send out for the holidays/winter. I can’t wait to try some of the other shades that are available.

Pictures don’t do this beautiful lip color justice. Sugar Plum reminds me of a mixture of brown, orange, and a slight hint of red all put into one lip color.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Review — #FrostyVoxBox

Rimmel01

I’m a big fan of Rimmel products. I’ve been lucky enough to receive many complimentary Rimmel products from Influenster for testing purposes. The above picture is of the new Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner.

The only time I ever purchase eyeliner pencil is if I need it for my waterline. For some reason, I cannot apply eyeliner pencil to my lash line. I feel like it looks horrible and chunky. I’d much rather use my go-to liquid eyeliner. I can get more precision and I can make as thick or as thin as I want.

McCormick All Natural Thyme Review + Recipe — #FrostyVoxBox

One of my favorite spices is thyme. It’s great for seasoning pasta sauces, soups, stews, and roasted meats and poultry. Use your imagination! I was very excited when I opened my Frosty VoxBox from Influenster and saw that I received a full-size bottle of McCormick’s All Natural Thyme.

I had no idea that McCormick was coming out with a line of all natural spices. The new packaging for McCormick Gourmet allows for easier dispensing of spices. I can’t wait to start picking up other spices in their all natural line!

Something I really enjoy using thyme in is pasta/pizza sauce. I used to make huge batches of spaghetti sauce, but my husband doesn’t like pasta — or Italian food for that matter (I know, crazy right?) — so I stick to very small batches. All you need is 1 can of diced tomatoes and some spices. I use garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, sage, rosemary, and salt and pepper to taste.

I’m really bad at measuring ingredients when I cook. The only time I measure anything is if I’m using a recipe that isn’t my own.
