Vasanti Product Reviews.

Hi, everyone! Earlier this week I introduced you to the new products I received from Swaggable. The products I would like to talk about today are the products I received from Vasanti. Prior to receiving these products in the mail, I had never heard of Vasanti. After a little bit of research I found out that Vasanti was founded by a sisterhood of women (three sisters and one childhood friend). This sisterhood of women created their beauty products around one simple question: “Why doesn’t make-up look good on me?” You can read more about the sisterhood behind these lovely products here. While conducting my research, I came across one huge plus – Vasanti products are not tested on animals. You can purchase these products via vasanticosmetics.com, birchbox.com, amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, and at selected high end Shoppers Drug Mart locations across Canada.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid VoxBox from Influenster — Review.

Hi, everyone!

Today I am excited to share with you the new Maybelline New York Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid. I love testing and reviewing a wide variety of products, but my favorite types of products to test are makeup — especially lipstick!

There are currently 10 Vivid Matte shades to choose from. The 2 shades I received in my VoxBox are “Nude Flush” and “Rebel Red.”

Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation.

Three weeks ago I finally received another VoxBox from Influenster. I swear it was meant to be because I was getting ready to go out and find myself a new foundation. Over the years I have tried many different brands from expensive department store foundations, to drugstore foundations. I have to admit, while I was excited about this VoxBox, I was also extremely terrified. I’ve had such bad luck in the past, I was really worried this was going to be just another foundation I was going to trash.

IMG_3438

Here’s a peak at what was inside the Maybelline VoxBox when I received it. Prior to receiving the VoxBox, I was not able to pick the shade of the foundation — which is probably a good thing because the shade I received is a perfect! That never happens to me — especially with drugstore products.

IMG_3437

The shade I received is Classic Ivory. I’ve never purchased a foundation this light, so this was one of the reasons I was so worried. It turned out, this shade was perfect for my skin tone. I can play it up with a little bronzer, or wear it as is with my favorite blush. Either way, it was a win win.

Here’s a little product description straight from Influenster: “Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation for an all-day flawless coverage now and better-looking skin in 3 weeks. The foundation reduces the the appearance of spots, dullness, and unevenness and gives you a brighter, more even, and stress-free skin. With the antioxidant power of Actyl-C, a more durable form of vitamin C. Available in 12 shades.

So, the purpose of this VoxBox was to wear the foundation every day for 3 weeks as a part of the #betterskinchallenge. It’s been just over 3 weeks and I feel like I can safely write a review on this product.

IMG_3436

Here is a before and after from week 1 (top) and week 3 (bottom). As you can see, there isn’t a significant difference in spots, dullness, and unevenness. I really don’t feel that this product lived up to its claims in this aspect, BUT . . . there are some other positive notes that actually made this product a new favorite foundation of mine.

I have never tried a foundation that made my skin look damn near flawless. Never. I know you can still see my dark circles in these photos, but this foundation is a significant improvement over the foundations I’ve used in the past. My typical routine for applying face makeup is foundation, concealer, translucent powder, and blush or bronzer. I didn’t feel it was necessary to use concealer with this foundation because it is fairly buildable. The foundation applies thin and smooth so when you build it up, your makeup isn’t cakey and thick. (I did this with a beauty blender and a stippling brush. Each technique worked as well as the other.)

I have combination skin (oily t-zone) and always worry about how a foundation is going to pair with my skin type. Guess what? Once I applied the foundation, my skin looked matte for most of the day 🙂 This foundation doesn’t have 24/7 stay power, but it does last quite a long time without having to touch it up. I’ve received many compliments on my makeup since I started wearing this.

One thing that really annoyed me about this foundation is the foundation pump. It’s awful! If you angle the foundation while you’re pressing the pump, the foundation will cease to flow and you will have to place the foundation on a flat surface and press the pump repeatedly to get the foundation to flow once again.

All in all, I think this is a great foundation. If you can get past the crummy pump, I think you’ll love it as much as I do. The foundation applied thin and smooth while making my skin as flawless as it has ever looked. It’s very easy to build up so you’re able to omit using concealer altogether (if you use concealer). It hasn’t lessened the appearance of spots, but it does provide amazing coverage. Plus, it’s inexpensive. You really can’t go wrong!

Have you tried the new Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation? I’d love to hear your opinions!

I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. This opinion is mine and mine alone. I was not paid for my review.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in “Anarchy” — Review.

It’s a great morning 🙂 My daughter only woke up ONCE last night. I got almost 8 hours of sleep. Now I’m sitting here enjoying the little pitter patters of rain on the roof with a nice cup of coffee. Did I mention everyone is still asleep? Peace and quiet. Well . . . except for my pitbull sitting here eating dog food like a savage, lol.

Anyway. Last year on one of my many trips to Ulta, I was given some free samples of Urban Decay lipstick because I bought their Naked Skin foundation along with the powder. I tried each sample (I believe there was 5) and completely fell in-love with “anarchy.” Because of the price, I never went back to buy a full tube. My sample managed to last me a full year though 🙂 Amazingly. And for those of you that don’t personally know me, I’m not a big lipstick fan. I think I look absurd in most shades.

My birthday was last Sunday and one of the gifts I received was a gift card to Ulta. As soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to buy. (You can pick one up at Ulta for $22.)

All of the children and instructors in her class at day care have been passing it around to each other :/ This is also a busy week for me at school, but I’m hoping to have a new post up this weekend!

e.l.f. studio Eyebrow Kit Review.

While on one of my many trips to Ulta, I decided to have one of the Benefit girls wax my brows for me. It was my birthday at the time and for those of you that don’t already know this, Ulta will wax your brows complimentary on your birthday. Who can say no to a free brow wax? Not only did the girl do a nice job, I loved the product she used to fill in my brows after. I ended up leaving with a $30 Benefit eyebrow kit that looked amazing when she applied it on me in store and horrible when I applied it at home. I used the kit a handful of times before I finally threw it aside because it was making me look like Bozo the Clown.

If I didn’t have a funky right eyebrow, I wouldn’t even bother filling in my brows. Since trying the Benefit kit, I’ve tried different eyebrow pencils as well as eyeshadows — I didn’t fall in-love with any of them.

A few months ago I had a couple of my friends recommend I try the e.l.f. studio Eyebrow Kit. The kit only costs $3. How could I say no?

I’m going to go ahead and apologize now for all of the different tag on my photos. I bought this kit before I changed up my blog, Instagram, and Twitter.

Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover — #FrostyVoxBox

After being extremely sick for the past 2 weeks (flu and strep + a toddler with a double ear infection), I’m finally feeling well enough to return to writing posts. I have a lot of catching up to do!

One of my favorite products that was included in the Frosty VoxBox is the new Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover.

Rimmel1

I’m going to be honest. I’ve only tried a handful of makeup removers in my life. I usually use baby wipes because I feel like they remove makeup easier. The only down side to baby wipes is the icky smell that is left on your face after removing your makeup. My face always feels greasy after too.

This is the first makeup remover that I’ve used and actually loved. The name implies that its sole purpose is for removing eye makeup, but I have to disagree. I’ve been using it to remove all of my makeup and it works fantastic!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Review — #FrostyVoxBox

Rimmel01

I’m a big fan of Rimmel products. I’ve been lucky enough to receive many complimentary Rimmel products from Influenster for testing purposes. The above picture is of the new Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner.

The only time I ever purchase eyeliner pencil is if I need it for my waterline. For some reason, I cannot apply eyeliner pencil to my lash line. I feel like it looks horrible and chunky. I’d much rather use my go-to liquid eyeliner. I can get more precision and I can make as thick or as thin as I want.
