Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
My little family and I spend Thanksgiving in Maui this year and while we were gone, I received a ton of free products to test and review. Today I would like to share a few items I received from Swaggable.
If this is the first time you’re hearing about Swaggable, I highly recommend you click the link above and see what they’re all about. When you create an account with Swaggable you are given the opportunity to scan through tons of different products and select whether you “Want In” or not. If you want in you are added to a list of users who would like to try that particular product. When and if that product becomes available, Swaggable will send you a complimentary sample – all you have to do in return for the complimentary sample is write a product review on their website. Easy, right?
This past week I received the Herbal Essences VoxBox from Influenster and I wanted to share a sneak peek at what was inside.
I was in awe when I saw what was inside. THREE full-size Herbal Essences products to try which included the Herbal Essences Body Envy Shampoo, Conditioner, and Mousse.
I have already been testing these products and I cannot wait to write up a full review for you guys!
Herbal Essences Body Envy Shampoo & Conditioner Set (10.1 Fl Oz Ea)
Have you tried the Herbal Essences Body Envy products? If so, what do you think of them?
Have a wonderful Sunday!

It has been nearly a month since my last blog post, but I have been working hard on planning for upcoming blog posts. It has always been my desire to be more active on my blog, but life has made that difficult. I fully intend to change that here shortly. I have so many wonderful ideas for Makeup n’ Munchies — I’ve even been working on writing a cookbook! — which I’m very excited about. I’ve always loved writing and have dreamt of writing a book, so why not combine two things I love?
While I’ve been busily planning for Makeup n’ Munchies, working on both of our businesses and taking care of my family, Influenster surprised me with a new product to try! For the past month I have been actively testing the NEW Country Crock spreads! I have always been a Country Crock fan, but when I made the choice to better my health in 2014, I cut out all butter, margarin, etc. and switched to coconut oil. I was a bit skeptical when I read that the new spreads were healthier. Healthier butter?
Country Crocks new recipe includes:
Palm kernel and palm oil
Vitamin A palmitate
Beta carotene (color)
These new spreads are so soft and creamy! The new Country Crock spreads are perfect for those recipes that call for softened butter or margarine. There’s no need to leave the spreads sitting on the counter to soften. Just measure what you need and you’re good to go!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone!
This is the first St. Patrick’s Day that my husband and I have celebrated with Emma where she actually fully understands what is going on. It is such a wonderful feeling. To celebrate, I woke up and whipped up a batch of green whole wheat pancakes for breakfast (Emma’s current favorite food). This recipe has become highly requested in our household, so I decided it would be nice to share.
Regular green food coloring will do the job just fine, but I do wish I had some green gel food coloring on hand when I made these. The green would have been much more vibrant.
Hey, everyone 🙂
It’s been way too long! I’m so behind on blogging, but I’m hoping to change that very soon. Between working full-time (my hubs too), running 2 businesses, chasing after my almost 3 year old daughter, and taking care of our 3 pups, I barely have time to breathe. Big changes are in our near future though 🙂 and I am optimistic I will have this blog up and running like I used to.
Recently, I received 2 VoxBox’s from Influenster. The first was the #PumpkinVoxBox and the second is the #SpiceVoxBox. I won’t even bother reviewing the #PumpkinVoxBox — no offense to Influenster, it just happens to be my least favorite VoxBox.
As you can tell, I am very excited about this VoxBox. It has some amazing products and I don’t have a single bad thing to say about any of them.
Before I get to the review, I want to give a quick shout-out to all of my subscribers, old and new. Thank you! I’ve had a good amount of people subscribe to me recently and it really means a lot! I hope you guys enjoy what I have to offer here at Makeup n’ Munchies.
I wish I could dedicate more time to my blog, but with a toddler, school, internship, husband, business, etc. it’s quite difficult to keep up — but I do have a lot of products I’ve been testing as well as recipes I need to share with you all, and I’m hoping I can start being more proactive here.
While I was on a quick trip to Walmart for a razor, I stumbled upon the new Venus Swirl Razor. I had my go-to razor in hand when a display suddenly came to life. It was lit up pretty bright and had a demo of how the razor moves with the curves of your body. Next thing I knew, I found myself reaching for the new razor — and I’m so happy I did!
If you’re looking for a new beauty product to try in 2015, I highly recommend the NEW NYC Expert Last Lip Color. I received a complimentary lip color in Sugar Plum from Influenster for testing purposes and I’m so in-love with it!
Most of the lip colors I’ve tried in the past have been very drying on my lips. I’ll use the lip color once or twice and then it’s left sitting in one of my many drawers of makeup. That was NOT the case with NYC Expert Last Lip Color. I received my VoxBox right before Christmas and I think that Sugar Plum was the perfect shade to send out for the holidays/winter. I can’t wait to try some of the other shades that are available.
Pictures don’t do this beautiful lip color justice. Sugar Plum reminds me of a mixture of brown, orange, and a slight hint of red all put into one lip color.
I don’t know about you, but I cannot get enough of fall — although the weather here in Oklahoma is more winter-like lately.
Today I have a quick, easy, and semi-healthy caramel apple egg roll recipe for you this morning. What better way to make your house smell like fall than by baking up these golden rolls of apple goodness?
Here is what you will need . . .
2 large Washington apples — or whatever apples you prefer
2 packets of Stevia
dash of ground cinnamon
All natural egg roll wrappers — I found mine at Neighborhood Walmart
1 tsp flour to about 1-2 tsp water
2 tbsp all natural coconut oil
2-3 caramel pieces, melted
My professors have been keeping me extremely busy this semester. I do have some products that I would love to review, it’s just a matter of me finding time to do so. Being a full-time student, mommy, and wife is tough work!
I would like to quickly brag on So Delicious. If you haven’t tried their organic coconut milk, I highly recommend you do. It’s amazing and I promise you won’t regret it. If you can’t find it the refrigerated section, check the juice aisle. I’ve noticed many stores only sell the boxed, warm So Delicious. It’s right next to the Silk and Blue Diamond.
I started using their unsweetened vanilla coconut milk back in June when I decided to start eating mostly vegetarian. I tried hopping on the almond milk bandwagon, but I just couldn’t stomach it. The almond milk was fine mixed in smoothies, but I hated it in my oatmeal and coffee. Yuck! I love almonds too, which is weird. Anyways — Now, I don’t miss regular cows milk at all. I use So Delicious coconut milk in my steel cut oats, smoothies, baking, etc.
I’ve had quite a few people ask me how I cook my steel cut oats, so here’s a quick recipe for you. And if you’ve never tried steel cut oats, I highly recommend you do! They’re my favorite 🙂 My daughter and I share a bowl every morning.
3 c water
1 c organic steel cut oats
1 tbsp butter (You can omit the butter to keep it vegan or try it with coconut oil)
1 c organic unsweetened vanilla coconut milk (So Delicious is my favorite!)
Sweetener of your choice. I use raw honey.
