While on one of my many trips to Ulta, I decided to have one of the Benefit girls wax my brows for me. It was my birthday at the time and for those of you that don’t already know this, Ulta will wax your brows complimentary on your birthday. Who can say no to a free brow wax? Not only did the girl do a nice job, I loved the product she used to fill in my brows after. I ended up leaving with a $30 Benefit eyebrow kit that looked amazing when she applied it on me in store and horrible when I applied it at home. I used the kit a handful of times before I finally threw it aside because it was making me look like Bozo the Clown.
If I didn’t have a funky right eyebrow, I wouldn’t even bother filling in my brows. Since trying the Benefit kit, I’ve tried different eyebrow pencils as well as eyeshadows — I didn’t fall in-love with any of them.
A few months ago I had a couple of my friends recommend I try the e.l.f. studio Eyebrow Kit. The kit only costs $3. How could I say no?
I’m going to go ahead and apologize now for all of the different tag on my photos. I bought this kit before I changed up my blog, Instagram, and Twitter.
After being extremely sick for the past 2 weeks (flu and strep + a toddler with a double ear infection), I’m finally feeling well enough to return to writing posts. I have a lot of catching up to do!
One of my favorite products that was included in the Frosty VoxBox is the new Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover.
I’m going to be honest. I’ve only tried a handful of makeup removers in my life. I usually use baby wipes because I feel like they remove makeup easier. The only down side to baby wipes is the icky smell that is left on your face after removing your makeup. My face always feels greasy after too.
This is the first makeup remover that I’ve used and actually loved. The name implies that its sole purpose is for removing eye makeup, but I have to disagree. I’ve been using it to remove all of my makeup and it works fantastic!
So, I have been on a huge soup kick recently. My two favorite soups to make at the moment are a simple veggie soup and a vegetarian egg drop soup. I can’t claim full credit for the egg drop soup though. I actually stumbled across this recipe while searching the internet and I made my own version of it. If you’d like to see the original version, click here.
This really is the BEST egg drop soup I have ever made. No more take out for this gal!
My baby bug has been sick since last Friday — turns out she has a double ear infection 🙁 — and now I’ve come down with something. What better way to cure a cold then some hot, delicious soup?
— Here is what you’ll need —
2 eggs, beaten
2 green onions, chopped
4 cups vegetable broth (or chicken)
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger, or fresh if you have it
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons corn starch + cold water
In a medium pot, bring the 4 cups of vegetable broth to a boil. Reduce heat to medium. Whisk in the salt and ginger. Dissolve 1 1/2 tablespoons of corn starch in cold water. While whisking, slowly add the corn starch to the broth. You can add in some of the green onions at this point if you’d like. I prefer to add them to my soup once it’s in my bowl. I don’t like when the onions get soggy. Now, take the 2 eggs you whisked and slowly add them to the hot broth mixture. Serve immediately.
I add lots of green onion and a dash of soy sauce to my soup 🙂 It’s also great with toasted sesame seeds thrown on top.
This yields 4 servings. I usually split it in half and share it between the hubby and I though.
How do you enjoy your egg drop soup?
I hope you all enjoy!

If you’re looking for a new beauty product to try in 2015, I highly recommend the NEW NYC Expert Last Lip Color. I received a complimentary lip color in Sugar Plum from Influenster for testing purposes and I’m so in-love with it!
Most of the lip colors I’ve tried in the past have been very drying on my lips. I’ll use the lip color once or twice and then it’s left sitting in one of my many drawers of makeup. That was NOT the case with NYC Expert Last Lip Color. I received my VoxBox right before Christmas and I think that Sugar Plum was the perfect shade to send out for the holidays/winter. I can’t wait to try some of the other shades that are available.
Pictures don’t do this beautiful lip color justice. Sugar Plum reminds me of a mixture of brown, orange, and a slight hint of red all put into one lip color.
Sorry I’m a little behind on posting reviews! I still have a few more products to review for you guys from Influenster’s #Frosty VoxBox. I’ve been working on a little bit of a blog “revamp.” If you’re new to my blog, you won’t notice a difference, but if you’ve been visiting for a while, you’ll see the name change.
When I first started this blog, I didn’t intend on keeping up on it as much as I actually have. I planned on using my blog strictly for Influenster purposes. In June of 2014, I started my journey on a mainly vegetarian diet. Along with my life change, I began taking photos of the food I was preparing so that I was able to share them on Facebook and Instagram. In the beginning, the pictures were just that — pictures. Suddenly I had friends and family asking me for recipes and tips. I never imagined I would help to inspire others.
While I still blog about VoxBox’s when I’m lucky enough to receive one, I’m now blogging about much more. Recipes, beauty products, life, books, etc. I don’t plan on stopping there, either. I’m full of ideas and I’m hoping to get them all out there as soon as I can.
Now . . . who’s ready for a recipe?
I’m a big fan of Rimmel products. I’ve been lucky enough to receive many complimentary Rimmel products from Influenster for testing purposes. The above picture is of the new Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner.
The only time I ever purchase eyeliner pencil is if I need it for my waterline. For some reason, I cannot apply eyeliner pencil to my lash line. I feel like it looks horrible and chunky. I’d much rather use my go-to liquid eyeliner. I can get more precision and I can make as thick or as thin as I want.
One of my favorite spices is thyme. It’s great for seasoning pasta sauces, soups, stews, and roasted meats and poultry. Use your imagination! I was very excited when I opened my Frosty VoxBox from Influenster and saw that I received a full-size bottle of McCormick’s All Natural Thyme.
I had no idea that McCormick was coming out with a line of all natural spices. The new packaging for McCormick Gourmet allows for easier dispensing of spices. I can’t wait to start picking up other spices in their all natural line!
Something I really enjoy using thyme in is pasta/pizza sauce. I used to make huge batches of spaghetti sauce, but my husband doesn’t like pasta — or Italian food for that matter (I know, crazy right?) — so I stick to very small batches. All you need is 1 can of diced tomatoes and some spices. I use garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, sage, rosemary, and salt and pepper to taste.
I’m really bad at measuring ingredients when I cook. The only time I measure anything is if I’m using a recipe that isn’t my own.
I’m fairly new to making homemade bread. In the beginning, I was extremely intimidated. Many of the recipes I found required stand mixers (which I didn’t own) and a lot of time and patience. It’s hard to find time and patience when you have a toddler running around. But I ended up finding a french bread recipe that looked fool proof. It didn’t require a stand mixer and a big chunk of time like others. My daughter loves helping me make this bread! 🙂
For Christmas, my husband surprised me with a KitchenAid stand mixer — something I’ve been wanting for years. Since I received the mixer, I’ve moved up to sourdough. This was even more intimidating. Starter? What on earth is THAT? (If you don’t know what starter is, click here.) Now that I’ve establish a nice, healthy starter, I’ve been baking sourdough with ease.
Here’s another product from the wonderful Frosty VoxBox from Influenster 🙂
Fruit Vines Bites!
I have to admit . . . when I received these, I wasn’t too thrilled. I cannot stand Red Vines and I was worried these would be exactly the same. Man was I wrong.
I’m sorry I’m running a little behind with my reviews and updates on the FrostyVoxBox. Christmas had me swamped the past 2 weeks.
Here’s another product that I received in my #FrostyVoxBox from Influenster. I was extremely excited when I saw that I received a full-size hair brush. And EcoTools? How awesome is that?!
Don’t those bristles look amazing?
