Last Christmas, my daughter received a Leap Frog “Violet” stuffed dog for Christmas from her aunt. My daughter and Violet have been inseparable ever since. I love Violet. She’s educational, cute, customizable — what more could you look for in a toy for your child, right? My daughter likes to use Violet as a teething ring, security blanket, napkin . . . you name it. But, Violet has one huge downside. She’s extremely difficult to clean! You can’t throw her in the washing machine or submerge her in water because her battery pack is sewn into her.
I decided to see if I could get Violet clean with a little TLC and Arm & Hammer’s baking soda. Guess what? It worked! I’ve been using this method for almost a year now and decided to share it with you all 🙂
Can you see the difference?
Here’s how I did it . . . First, I dampened a clean wash cloth with warm water. Then, I wiped Violet down with the wash cloth to get her fur slightly wet. After that, I used my Arm & Hammer shaker from Smiley360 to sprinkle baking soda all over Violet. Using the same wash cloth, I began scrubbing the baking soda into Violet. I added more baking soda periodically (until she looked clean) and continued scrubbing. Once I got Violet as clean as I possibly could, I damped a new clean wash cloth and began wiping Violet down. It took me about 4 times before Violet didn’t feel gritty from the baking soda. After I was finished, I placed Violet on a chair in front of a fan to dry. Once Violet was dry, I used a soft bristled brush (a toothbrush would work great) to brush Violet.
That’s it! So simple and natural. No chemicals. No ruining mechanical parts. Violet looks and smells pretty darn good if I must say so myself 😉
I hope you all find this helpful.
