Leprechaun Pancakes!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone!

This is the first St. Patrick’s Day that my husband and I have celebrated with Emma where she actually fully understands what is going on.  It is such a wonderful feeling.  To celebrate, I woke up and whipped up a batch of green whole wheat pancakes for breakfast (Emma’s current favorite food).  This recipe has become highly requested in our household, so I decided it would be nice to share.

Regular green food coloring will do the job just fine, but I do wish I had some green gel food coloring on hand when I made these.  The green would have been much more vibrant.

How to get products for free.

“How do you get free products?” That is a question I hear almost daily. Today I am here to share with you a few of my favorite websites I use to obtain FREE (mostly full size) products.

The first website that I’m going to brag about is Influenster. I have been an Influenster for just over three years. I stumbled across Influenster when I saw a friend of mine posting reviews on Facebook about products she received for free. Back when I joined Influenster, you needed another Influenster to invite you to join. Today, you can create an account for free. It’s simple to create an account and get started. Once you have created an account, it’s time to start reviewing! Search for products you already use and review them. You can also ask questions about the product or help answer other Influenster’s questions. The best advice I can give you about Influenster is to stay active and don’t give up hope! The more active you are, the more likely you are to receive a VoxBox. Also, make sure to connect all of your social media accounts and answer all “snaps” that come you way. I have been lucky enough to receive multiple VoxBoxes a year and I have so much fun with them! Influenster will email you short surveys for you to fill out to try to qualify you for future VoxBoxes. Make sure that you respond to them promptly because there’s always a deadline associated with each survey.

#SpiceVoxBox — Review!

Here I am, trying to be consistent. Only 3 more days left until the #SpiceVoxBox comes to a close. I have now had the opportunity to test each product and am ready to review them. I had originally wanted to write a post for each product, but I have since decided not to. Each “mini review” will contain the description from the #SpiceVoxBox infromation card I received.

“At Good Health, we believe the secret to a great “Lifeitude,” aka loving life to the fullest, is feeling good. That’s why we pack our Veggie Straws with Extra Goodness! Like nutrients (vitamins) from tomatoes, spinach, beets, broccoli and carrots to deliver a truly delicious snack so you can… Enjoy Being Good!”

The first product I would like to talk about is Good Health Veggies Straws. This product is great in so many ways. The first being it is a non-GMO product. I know many people who believe the whole “GMO” thing is a spoof (my husband included), but I am not one of them. Not only does this product fit my lifestyle, my almost three year old loves them as well. I’ve tried many different brands of veggie straws over the years, but this is the first brand of veggie straws that I actually thought tasted like real veggies. I only wish I could find these in store! I have looked at Walmart, Target, and our local grocery store and have had no luck. I haven’t been to Sprouts or Whole Foods lately, so I may have to try there. It’s nice finding a snack product that is healthy and accepted by my very picky toddler. According to the information card I received from Influenster, these 6.75 oz packs retail for $3.99. If anyone can find these, can you please share with me where you found them? #EnjoyBeingGood

#SpiceVoxBox from Influenster!

Hey, everyone 🙂

It’s been way too long! I’m so behind on blogging, but I’m hoping to change that very soon. Between working full-time (my hubs too), running 2 businesses, chasing after my almost 3 year old daughter, and taking care of our 3 pups, I barely have time to breathe. Big changes are in our near future though 🙂 and I am optimistic I will have this blog up and running like I used to.

Recently, I received 2 VoxBox’s from Influenster. The first was the #PumpkinVoxBox and the second is the #SpiceVoxBox. I won’t even bother reviewing the #PumpkinVoxBox — no offense to Influenster, it just happens to be my least favorite VoxBox.

As you can tell, I am very excited about this VoxBox. It has some amazing products and I don’t have a single bad thing to say about any of them.

Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation.

Three weeks ago I finally received another VoxBox from Influenster. I swear it was meant to be because I was getting ready to go out and find myself a new foundation. Over the years I have tried many different brands from expensive department store foundations, to drugstore foundations. I have to admit, while I was excited about this VoxBox, I was also extremely terrified. I’ve had such bad luck in the past, I was really worried this was going to be just another foundation I was going to trash.

IMG_3438

Here’s a peak at what was inside the Maybelline VoxBox when I received it. Prior to receiving the VoxBox, I was not able to pick the shade of the foundation — which is probably a good thing because the shade I received is a perfect! That never happens to me — especially with drugstore products.

IMG_3437

The shade I received is Classic Ivory. I’ve never purchased a foundation this light, so this was one of the reasons I was so worried. It turned out, this shade was perfect for my skin tone. I can play it up with a little bronzer, or wear it as is with my favorite blush. Either way, it was a win win.

Here’s a little product description straight from Influenster: “Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation for an all-day flawless coverage now and better-looking skin in 3 weeks. The foundation reduces the the appearance of spots, dullness, and unevenness and gives you a brighter, more even, and stress-free skin. With the antioxidant power of Actyl-C, a more durable form of vitamin C. Available in 12 shades.

So, the purpose of this VoxBox was to wear the foundation every day for 3 weeks as a part of the #betterskinchallenge. It’s been just over 3 weeks and I feel like I can safely write a review on this product.

IMG_3436

Here is a before and after from week 1 (top) and week 3 (bottom). As you can see, there isn’t a significant difference in spots, dullness, and unevenness. I really don’t feel that this product lived up to its claims in this aspect, BUT . . . there are some other positive notes that actually made this product a new favorite foundation of mine.

I have never tried a foundation that made my skin look damn near flawless. Never. I know you can still see my dark circles in these photos, but this foundation is a significant improvement over the foundations I’ve used in the past. My typical routine for applying face makeup is foundation, concealer, translucent powder, and blush or bronzer. I didn’t feel it was necessary to use concealer with this foundation because it is fairly buildable. The foundation applies thin and smooth so when you build it up, your makeup isn’t cakey and thick. (I did this with a beauty blender and a stippling brush. Each technique worked as well as the other.)

I have combination skin (oily t-zone) and always worry about how a foundation is going to pair with my skin type. Guess what? Once I applied the foundation, my skin looked matte for most of the day 🙂 This foundation doesn’t have 24/7 stay power, but it does last quite a long time without having to touch it up. I’ve received many compliments on my makeup since I started wearing this.

One thing that really annoyed me about this foundation is the foundation pump. It’s awful! If you angle the foundation while you’re pressing the pump, the foundation will cease to flow and you will have to place the foundation on a flat surface and press the pump repeatedly to get the foundation to flow once again.

All in all, I think this is a great foundation. If you can get past the crummy pump, I think you’ll love it as much as I do. The foundation applied thin and smooth while making my skin as flawless as it has ever looked. It’s very easy to build up so you’re able to omit using concealer altogether (if you use concealer). It hasn’t lessened the appearance of spots, but it does provide amazing coverage. Plus, it’s inexpensive. You really can’t go wrong!

Have you tried the new Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation? I’d love to hear your opinions!

I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. This opinion is mine and mine alone. I was not paid for my review.

Glad OdorShield with Gain — Review.

Hey, everyone!

I’ve been so busy lately, I feel like I can’t catch my breath — but I wanted to share with you one of the new complimentary products I’ve been testing from BzzAgent.

Meet the new Glad OdorShield with Gain!

IMG_2546

I’ve been a fan of Glad for as long a I can remember. Growing up, my mom used Glad trash bags. Now that I’m older, my husband and I use them as well. My favorite trash bags are Glad’s ForceFlex. Now that BzzAgent has given me the opportunity to try the new Glad OdorShield with Gain, I’ve officially converted from Glad’s ForceFlex to the new Glad OdorShield with Gain.

NEW Venus Swirl — Review.

Before I get to the review, I want to give a quick shout-out to all of my subscribers, old and new. Thank you! I’ve had a good amount of people subscribe to me recently and it really means a lot! I hope you guys enjoy what I have to offer here at Makeup n’ Munchies.

I wish I could dedicate more time to my blog, but with a toddler, school, internship, husband, business, etc. it’s quite difficult to keep up — but I do have a lot of products I’ve been testing as well as recipes I need to share with you all, and I’m hoping I can start being more proactive here.

While I was on a quick trip to Walmart for a razor, I stumbled upon the new Venus Swirl Razor. I had my go-to razor in hand when a display suddenly came to life. It was lit up pretty bright and had a demo of how the razor moves with the curves of your body. Next thing I knew, I found myself reaching for the new razor — and I’m so happy I did!

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in “Anarchy” — Review.

It’s a great morning 🙂 My daughter only woke up ONCE last night. I got almost 8 hours of sleep. Now I’m sitting here enjoying the little pitter patters of rain on the roof with a nice cup of coffee. Did I mention everyone is still asleep? Peace and quiet. Well . . . except for my pitbull sitting here eating dog food like a savage, lol.

Anyway. Last year on one of my many trips to Ulta, I was given some free samples of Urban Decay lipstick because I bought their Naked Skin foundation along with the powder. I tried each sample (I believe there was 5) and completely fell in-love with “anarchy.” Because of the price, I never went back to buy a full tube. My sample managed to last me a full year though 🙂 Amazingly. And for those of you that don’t personally know me, I’m not a big lipstick fan. I think I look absurd in most shades.

My birthday was last Sunday and one of the gifts I received was a gift card to Ulta. As soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to buy. (You can pick one up at Ulta for $22.)

Salon Perfect nail polish in “Haute Pink” — Review.

I love nail polish. I try to make a trip down the nail polish aisle any time I go to the store. I’ve seen Salon Perfect on many occasions, but I never could get myself to make a purchase. Last week I gave in and picked up one bottle of Salon Perfect nail polish in “Haute Pink.”

SP01

I don’t know about you, but it looks more like a bright orange rather than a pink. Either way, I fell in-love with the color and HAD to buy it. It wasn’t badly priced either… only $3.98/each at Walmart.

Wonka Randoms!

Have you tried Wonka Randoms yet? Smiley360 sent me FREE samples to test and review — mine are already gone. Oops?! If you haven’t already tried Wonka Randoms, I highly recommend you pick yourself up a bag. You won’t be sorry!

Wonka Randoms come in 70 different shapes, 7 fruit flavors, and 3 gummy textures. No 2 bags of Wonka Randoms are the same! My favorite Randoms are the gummies filled with gooey goodness. Yum! I think I found my new sweet tooth cure. They’re really not too bad for you either, as long as you consume them in moderation. Or you can eat 2 bags in one day like my husband and I did 😛

Pictured above are just a few of the cute gummy shapes that are available in a bag of Wonka Randoms. Fish, feet, ducks, flowers, smiley faces, sunglasses, etc.
